The Best White Paint Colours for Any Design Project

Design 101

There’s nothing better than a freshly painted white room, but the options can be more than a little overwhelming. If you’re looking for the perfect white paint for your next interior design project, these are our top three whites that look perfect in every home.

Snowbound

Sherwin Williams, 7004

Why we love it:

  • This is our secret weapon white. First discovered for more traditional projects, we also often use it to add warmth to a modern interior design scheme.
  • A warm white with a welcoming glow that’s much fresher than a classic cream colour
  • It’s subtle pink undertones highlight warmth in surrounding finishings
  • Inviting and timeless

Distant Grey

Benjamin Moore, OC-68

Why we love it:

  • Creates a gallery feeling in any space, especially modern homes and elevated farmhouse interiors
  • Instantly fresh, clean and bright
  • It’s slight grey undertones read crisp and cool in daylight but elegant and inviting in artificial light at night. The best of both worlds!
  • A crisp, true white

Chantilly Lace

Benjamin Moore, OC-65

Why we love it:

  • A great clean white with slightly warm undertones—if you don’t know what white to use, use this!
  • Brighter than Snowbound, less precise than Distant Grey so we find it works for almost any home design style
  • Won’t pull too cool or too warm no matter the lighting conditions in the space
  • DIY tip—we use this if we’re ever needing to match to the white that IKEA uses on most of their cabinetry

To get samples, take this list to your local Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams store, or check out Hello Paint online. The colour you see online is rarely as perfect as when it is viewed in person. We always recommend bringing physical paint chips home so you can test them in different rooms and in a variety of  lighting throughout the day before making your final decision.
